Athletic Groin Pain is a common presentation in multidirectional sport. These athletes accelerate, decelerate, change direction, kick, jump and land and the pelvis is very much the epicenter of it. We can see that the incidence is 0.2 to 2.1 episodes of groin pain per 1000 hours of training in men. Groin pain requires a comprehensive examination which includes history, subjective examination, screening and clinical examination.

CLINICAL EXAMINATION OF GROIN PAIN consists of:

1.    Examining hip movements

2.    FADDIR test ( flexion, adduction, internal rotation)

3.    FABER test ( flexion, abduction, external rotation)

4.    Shear test

5.    Squeeze test

6.    Palpation

7.    Thomas test

Here, you can watch a couple of short clips from Dr. Andy Franklyn-Miller lecture about some of the components of the clinical examination.
